Yes. Closing is what sets the value the lot is insured for, and the container cannot be
sent until there is one. It also means you know your number before you let go of the
material.
What if the market moves after I lock?
Nothing happens to your figure. That is the entire point of the lock, and it cuts both
ways — if the market runs up while your box is in transit, you still get what you
locked.
How accurate does my weight have to be?
Close enough to be useful. Send less than you closed and you are paid the locked price
on what arrives; send more and the excess settles at the market that day. Neither is a
problem and neither carries a penalty.
I do not know the karat for certain.
Declare your best estimate. The assay on arrival is what governs, and you watch it
happen. A wrong guess changes the settlement, not your standing.
Can I send a mixed lot?
Yes, and most lots are. Quote the grade that makes up the bulk of it. Everything is
separated and weighed on camera before anything is agreed.
What does the video call involve?
We book it for when the lot lands. You watch the lot weighed and read on XRF, and nothing is agreed until you have seen it. It usually takes a few minutes.
Who pays for shipping?
We do, in both directions, including the return if you do not like the assay.
How does the lot actually get to you?
Once you close, we declare the value to our carriage insurer, who sends an insured
container to your street address. Put the lot in it, seal it, and hand it to FedEx at a
counter. There is nothing to print, nothing to attach and nothing to pay for.
What if the package goes missing?
From the first carrier scan it is our loss. Hand it over at a counter and keep the
receipt — a package sitting unscanned in a drop box is not yet covered.
How fast is settlement?
Same day, once the assay is agreed on the call.
Do you buy from the public?
No. Roizin buys from the trade — jewellers, pawnbrokers, estate buyers and labs.
Can I just come in instead?
Yes, and if you are anywhere near midtown that is easier for both of us. Booth 57,
37 W 47th St, weekdays 10:30 to 17:30.
